HC Deb 21 November 1957 vol 578 c67W
75. Mr. Knox Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, as well as consulting with the Archbishop of Malta on proposals for integration in so far as such proposals concern the Roman Catholic Church, he will consult with the heads of the other churches in the United Kingdom in so far as such proposals for integration concern such churches.

Mr. Profumo

My right hon. Friend is aware of the views of the Churches in the United Kingdom on these matters and will always be ready to consider any representations they may wish to offer. He has given an assurance of his intention to include, in any new Constitution for Malta, the same provision for religious toleration as is contained in the present Constitution.
