HC Deb 20 November 1957 vol 578 cc36-7W
61. Mr. P. Wells

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty when he expects to receive the report by Sir Barclay Nihill's committee on the reorganisation of Her Majesty's dockyards.

Mr. T. G. D. Galbraith

Sir Barclay Nihill's Committee is concerned with the whole organisation, both inside the Admiralty and outside, for meeting the Navy's material requirements. It is also concerned with certain staffing problems of that organisation. It is not concerned with the future of individual Royal Dockyards.

The Committtee has recently rendered a report covering the first part of its terms of reference, and this is now being considered; the second part of the report is expected shortly. When decisions have been reached, those of general interest will be announced to the House.
