HC Deb 14 November 1957 vol 577 c63W
18. Mrs. Butler

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the decisions of the Committee set up to investigate the population problem by the Government of Mauritius.

Mr. Profumo

The Committee's recommendations, which were not unanimous, referred to the need for increased productivity and increased emigration and urged that family planning methods should be made widely available in Mauritius. The Committee also recommended that steps should be taken to improve the housing situation.
