HC Deb 14 November 1957 vol 577 c74W
Mr. P. Morris

asked the Minister of Education what reply he has given the National Association of Schoolmasters in response to their request for representation on the Burnham Committee, and other appropriate committees.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

I have told the Association that I see no reason to vary the decision given it by my predecessor.

Mr. Llewellyn

asked the Minister of Education why the National Association of Schoolmasters is not represented on the Burnham Committee; and whether he will review the matter at an early date.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

I see no reason to disagree with the view taken by my predecessors that the present membership of the Teachers' Panel of the Burnham Committee adequately represents all categories of teachers in the various types of schools, whose salaries are negotiated by the Committee.
