§ 48. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Prime Minister the policy of Her Majesty's Government in regard to the launching of an earth satellite, with particular reference to the cost of such a project and the advantages to be gained from it.
§ The Prime MinisterI do not consider that the advantages to be gained by this country from launching an earth satellite at present justify the duplication of scientific effort and the large expenditure which would be involved.
