HC Deb 11 November 1957 vol 577 cc23-4W
Mr. Ridsdale

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation how many accidents, fatal and non-fatal, respectively, have been recorded up to the latest convenient date in places where parking without lights after dark is permitted when street lighting is on in the Metropolitan police district and in the rest of England and Wales, respectively.

Mr. Watkinson

Separate figures are not available of accidents occurring in places where parking without lights after dark is permitted, but the Metropolitan Police, in whose area parking without lights after dark is permitted in most places, state that a study of the day and night time casualty figures for 1956 revealed no evidence that the concession has had an adverse effect on casualties.
