§ 49. Mr. Gowerasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation how many schemes of road improvement are planned for Wales during the next twelve months; what will be the total cost of these schemes; and how this cost compares with the sum expended on road improvement in Wales during 1938.
§ Mr. Watkinson:I cannot say at present how many schemes will be authorised, but it is likely that their cost will be over £2 million. The comparable figure for 1938–39 was about £1.3 million.
