§ Mr. Pagetasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many animals have been exported on which subsidy has been paid; and the cost of this subsidy.
§ Mr. Godber:Precise figures are not available, but it is estimated that subsidies may have been paid to British producers on about 30,000 of the cattle exported during the year to end February, 1957, and possibly on a very small number of other fatstock. The maximum cost of these subsidies is estimated at about £800,000.
