§ 39. Mr. S. O. Daviesasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will name the persons or bodies which he has banned as subversive elements from the Singapore Legislative elections; and if he will state the grounds on which he regards such elements as subversive.
§ Mr. Lennox-Boyd:I have banned no persons or bodies by name. What Her Majesty's Government require is that persons detained and held in prison at the time because of subversive conduct threatening the peace, order and good government of Singapore should not be eligible for election to the first Legislative Assembly of the new State of Singapore.
