Mr. Hastings

asked the Minister of Health how many general practitioner principals in the National Health Service have lists of between 3,500 and 4,500 and between 4,500 and 5,500.

Mr. Vosper:

The number of general practitioner principals in England and Wales on 1st July, 1956, with lists of between 3,500 and 4,500 was 2,323 and the number with lists of between 4,500 and 5,500 was 518; doctors with lists of over 3,500 must, of course, have either a partner or an assistant.
