HC Deb 27 March 1957 vol 567 cc114-5W
75. Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he has any further statement to make on the payment of dues for passage through the Suez Canal.

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

These matters are under discussion not only between the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Egyptian Government, but between Her Majesty's Government and other major users of the Canal. Meanwhile British shipowners are being advised to avoid using the Canal until the position is more clear.
