HC Deb 27 March 1957 vol 567 c110W
49. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Paymaster-General, as representing the Lord President of the Council, if he will state his estimate, based on the scientific data available to him, of the quantity of radioactive matter which was discharged by the nations concerned into the sea on the occasion of the last three nuclear tests, his estimate of the distance and direction in which that radioactive matter travelled after each of those tests, and the recorded effects on the fish, marine foods and sea-weeds of the relevant oceans.

Mr. Maudling

The last three nuclear tests over the sea were not conducted by the United Kingdom, and I have no information about the amount of radioactive matter released.
