asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he will take steps in all schemes of airfield development to ensure that a reasonable area of open space should be maintained at the approaches to main runways of airports for which he is responsible.

Mr. Watkinson

Yes. In all schemes of airfield development my Department follows the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organisation. In addition, I am now re-examining the criteria my Department employs to safeguard those who live near airfields.
