HC Deb 21 March 1957 vol 567 c68W
Mr. F. Noel-Baker

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what French military equipment is still in Cyprus; for what purpose it is there; and when it will be removed.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Full details of the equipment are not available. It was brought to Cyprus for the use of the French forces stationed there temporarily during the emergency situation created by the hostilities between Israel and Egypt. It is being gradually removed, but the quantities involved are substantial, and I cannot state how long its removal will take.
