HC Deb 14 March 1957 vol 566 cc210-1W
92. Dame Irene Ward

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will give an assurance that no commitments in connection with the future of the Suez Canal will be entered into without consultation with British shipping interests.

Mr. Ian Harvey

The views of shipping interests on this subject are well known to my right hon. and learned Friend, and my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport is in constant touch with them. I gladly give an assurance that full account will be taken of these views.
