HC Deb 04 March 1957 vol 566 c16W
Mr. Benn

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the number of African, Asian and European students from Tanganyika who have studied in the United Kingdom from 1949 to the current year; if he will break down these figures to show the numbers of each race who have taken degree courses, nurses' training and/or other courses; how many of each of these groups have received Government scholarships; and how many have been privately financed.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The following table shows the number of students of the different races from Tanganyika undertaking various forms of higher study in the United Kingdom in each year since 1949; scholarship holders and private students are listed in separate columns under the letters S and P respectively.
