HC Deb 04 March 1957 vol 566 c12W
Mr. Swingler

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer his latest estimates of the annual totals of salaries paid to Ministers and junior Ministers and to the members of their personal staffs, respectively.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

I would refer the hon. Member to the Civil Estimates and Estimates for the Revenue Departments which contain particulars of the salaries paid to Ministers. Estimates do not always give the salaries paid to the secretaries and other private office staff of Ministers. The work involved in collecting this information would not be justified. But such staff is certainly not underworked.
