HC Deb 06 June 1957 vol 571 cc155-6W
Sir A. Bossom

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government (1) whether arrangements have now been made for a public local inquiry in connection with the amendment to the County of London Development Plan, in respect of the St. Paul's precinct;

(2) if he will arrange for alternative schemes to be considered at the public inquiry on the treatment of the environment of St. Paul's, as well as the one tentative suggestion which has been published;

(3) as it has not been generally known that the last date for lodging objections or variations to the suggested plan for the treatment of the environment of St. Paul's is 11th June, if he will consider extending this time, so that the matter can receive further and wider consideration.

Mr. H. Brooke

Arrangements are being made to open a public local inquiry into the revised plan for the St. Paul's area on 15th July at the Guildhall. This matter has been before the public for a long time, and I am anxious to avoid further delay in dealing with it. I do not, therefore, proposed formally to extend beyond 11th June the already announced period for lodging objections, but I shall be prepared to allow a few days' latitude to persons who have real difficulty in making their objections or representations before this date.

The inquiry will be into objections or representations relating to the scheme proposed by the London County Council and City Corporation, but it is open to any person to represent that an alternative scheme would be preferable.
