§ 98. Mr. G. M. Thomsonasked the Minister of Labour if he will refer the dispute existing between the television writers and the programme contractors for commercial television to the Industrial Court for settlement under the provisions of Section 17 (1)of the Television Act, 1954.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodI have not been informed of a dispute, but I understand that negotiations between the parties have been concerned with fees for authors' works. I am advised that Section 17 (1)of the Television Act would not apply in this matter as its provisions cover only wages and conditions of persons employed by programme contractors.
