57. Mrs. Jegerasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what plans he has to provide for the travel to and from work of the office population of Central London, which will be doubled as a result of new office building already sanctioned.
§ Mr. WatkinsonI am advised that present building plans will not double the office population. In fact, London Transport estimate that the increase in the total traffic load is unlikely to exceed one-sixth. Even this would put a heavy load on transport, and the B.T.C., who are working closely with the planning authorities, are considering how best they can carry it.
