§ 82. Mr. Mossasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he has considered the letter from the Clerk of the Warwickshire County Council, sent to him by the hon. Member for Meriden, in which it is objected that the White Paper on Local Government Finance has been published so as to allow insufficient time for its proper consideration; and what is his reply.
§ Mr. BevinsYes. The White Paper was published on 10th July, and in the opinion of my right hon. Friend the local authorities will have very adequate time in which to make representations, if they so desire, before legislation is introduced. My right hon. Friend is satisfied that there is a general desire that the Government's three White Papers on Local Government should be debated at an early date.
