asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will make a further statement about the proposed committee on the pay and conditions of certain grades in the Prison Service.

Yes. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and I offered the Chairmanship of the Committee to Mr. Justice Wynn-Parry, and I am pleased to be able to say that he has accepted it. The other members are Dr. Mary B. Cairns, of the University College of North Staffordshire; Sir Charles Geddes, of the General Council of the T.U.C. Mr. John Sullivan, of the South Scotland Electricity Board; Mr. J. R. Wade, formerly Principal Establishment Officer, War Office, and Mr. R. L. Webster, of Hoover, Ltd.

The Joint Secretaries are Mr. M. T. Leddy of the Prison Commission and Mr. J. J. Topping of the Scottish Home Department.
