§ 78. Mr. Sorensenasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance what further representations he has received in respect of hardship suffered by pensioners through increased rents under the Rent Act and the necessity of increasing the weekly amount which pensioners are entitled to earn without a reduction in their pension; and, in view of the inability of pensioners both to pay the increased rent and to purchase an adequate amount of food within existing restrictions, if he will now sanction an increase in their permissible earnings.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterNo representations have been made to me that the earnings disregard should be increased on account of the Rent Act. The hon. Member will in any event be aware that the earnings limits were raised substantially as recently as last year.
