HC Deb 04 July 1957 vol 572 cc140-1W
77. Mrs. Slater

asked the Minister of Health what provision exists or is proposed for the North Staffordshire area for hostels for girls who are able to work, but who would otherwise have to be housed in a mental deficiency colony.

Mr. Vaughan-Morgan

Stoke-on-Trent are proposing to establish a hostel for such girls whose home conditions are unsatisfactory. In present circumstances, my right hon. Friend is not able to give his approval, but the matter will be kept under review in the light of the Royal Commission's Report, which is now under consideration.
