§ 99. Mr. Edward Evansasked the Minister of Health if he is aware that the public health inspector of the Lowestoft Borough Council has recently condemned a quantity of cake as being unfit for human consumption by reason of the fact that Chinese frozen eggs used in the preparation of the cake had indicated a potential danger to public health; and what steps he proposes to take to control the import of Chinese eggs in order to safeguard health.
§ Mr. VosperI understand the cake had a tainted flavour from the egg used but was not examined for infection. My Department keeps in touch with the importers of egg products from abroad and port health and other local authorities, who have powers to deal with unsound food, have been asked to pay particular attention to these products.
