§ Mr. Lewisasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether he will take the necessary action to ensure that where a recipient of an unsolicited gift or present from overseas has to pay Customs and/or Purchase Tax on such presents, without being aware of the contents or value of the gift, the recipient will be allowed to return the article to Her Majesty's Customs authorities within a specified period and have returned to him the Customs and tax charges made at the time of delivery.
