§ 133. Dame Irene Wardasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will consult with local authorities and seek an assurance that persons vacating houses under the new Rent Bill will, if they desire, be placed on their housing lists.
§ Mr. BrookeI do not think that there is any need for me to remind local authorities of their housing responsibilities, nor indeed is it the case that the Rent Bill is bound to increase the demands that must be made on them. Its effect will be to encourage better use of existing accommodation.
