§ 52. Mr. Swinglerasked the Prime Minister if he will now take the initiative in calling a conference of heads of Governments of the great Powers to discuss the limitation and eventual abolition of hydrogen bomb tests.
§ The Prime MinisterDisarmament questions, including nuclear disarmament, are as I have said, being discussed in the General Assembly of the United Nations. The United Kingdom delegate has expressed the view that the Disarmament Sub-Committee should study these problems afresh taking into consideration the various new proposals which have been made. We believe that in prevailing circumstances this is the best way to try to tackle disarmament.
