§ 77. Mrs. McLaughlinasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Education how many local authorities include in their contracts with teachers a clause prohibiting corporal punishment in their schools.
§ Sir E. BoyleI know of no local education authority which forbids corporal punishment in its schools. Any rules that may be made about corporal punishment are normally embodied in the authority's general regulations and are unlikely to be included in teachers' contracts of service.
