HC Deb 26 February 1957 vol 565 c147W
Mr. Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will introduce the necessary legislation to ensure that the Prime Minister, Ministers of the Crown, junior Ministers, and other Members of Her Majesty's Government have to meet the cost of postage, telephones, travel, secretarial, living-away-from-home expenses, and all other expenses wholly and necessarily incurred whilst carrying out their duties to the State, from their Ministerial salaries, and thus put these Ministers on the same basis of payment as Members of Parliament.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft
