asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why the redevelopment of Gorbals will require twenty years to complete.

Mr. Maclay

The Gorbals redevelopment scheme is one of a number of similar projects which the Corporation of Glasgow proposes to put in hand in various congested districts throughout the city in the next few years. I understand that its estimate of twenty years for the completion of the Gorbals project takes account of its prospective commitments on these other schemes which will be going on at the same time.
