§ Captain Kerbyasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that the Japanese Government, at the request of the United States administration, have agreed voluntarily to restrict the export of cloth and made-up garments manufactured in Japan to the United States of America; and what representations of a similar nature he has made to the Japanese Government so as to restrict the import of similar Japanese goods to British Colonies, such as Hong Kong.

As regards the second part, it is not the policy of the Government, in the absence of balance of payments reasons, to interfere with the freedom of Colonial Territories to obtain their requirements from whatever source suits them best.
