§ Mr. VosperThe total estimated expenditure by the Medical Research Council on cancer research in the financial year ending 31st March, 1957, is £364,000. Every effort is being made by the Council to develop and extend their programme in this important field, and to ensure that any promising new approach to the problem is actively explored In addition large sums are spent by voluntary bodies. The total amount spent on cancer research from all sources during the current financial year will be approximately £1 million
