HC Deb 21 February 1957 vol 565 c80W
Captain Kerby

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he has yet entered into an agreement with Lady Garbett, as provided for by Section 18 (2) of the Agriculture Act, 1947; and what payments have been made to her in respect of rent.

Mr. Amory

Lady Garbett recently brought an action seeking to establish that my occupation of her land was unlawful. This necessarily held up negotiations for a tenancy agreement under Section 18 of the Agriculture Act. The court having now dismissed Lady Garbett's claim, negotiations for an agreement will be pursued. Meanwhile no payment by way of rent has been asked for or tendered.
