§ Mr. Pageasked the President of the Board of Trade when the United Kingdom will ratify the Brussels Convention and the Universal Copyright Convention.
§ Sir D. EcclesNeither ratification can take place until our copyright laws are changed by the coming into operation of the Copyright Act, 1956. It is the Government's intention to ratify these Conventions as soon as possible thereafter.
§ Mr. Pageasked the President of the Board of Trade when the necessary regulations will be made bringing into force the several parts of the Copyright Act, 1956.
§ Sir D. EcclesI hope that, within the next few months, the necessary preliminary work on Regulations, Rules and Orders in Council will be completed. I propose to bring the Act into operation immediately thereafter.
