HC Deb 19 February 1957 vol 565 c41W
70. Mr. Randall

asked the Secretary to the Treasury what is the total sum contained in the Supplementary Estimates for increases in salaries and wages; and what percentage this is of the total Supplementary Estimates.

Mr. Powell

It is not possible to give a precise answer without undue expenditure of time and labour. Very approximately the Civil Supplementary Estimates presented last July and early this month include £54½ million on account of increases in salaries and wages. This is about 44 per cent. of the total Civil Supplementary Estimates.
