§ Mr. VosperThe numbers who started the first year of their professional course at English dental schools in the academic years 1954–5, 1955–6 and 1956–7 were 381, 494 and 509 respectively; the Committee on Recruitment to the Dental Profession estimated that Great Britain needed 800 new dentists each year, of which, on the basis of present distribution, the share of England and Wales would be about 700.
