HC Deb 14 February 1957 vol 564 c204W
50. Mr. Kimball

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is aware of the serious damage to the stocks of coarse fish caused by the sudden increase in pollution of the River Trent between Newark and Gainsborough; and what action he is taking in the matter.

Mr. Amory

There has been some increase in foaming at certain points arising from the use of synthetic detergents; but the Trent River Board, who have been carrying out regular chemical and biological examinations of this section of the river, have found no evidence that it has had any measurable affect on the fish stocks.
