HC Deb 14 February 1957 vol 564 cc215-6W
93. Mr. M. Stewart

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Education how many young people who have left school and have not yet reached the age of 17 years are receiving part-time day education and for what number of hours per year they are on the average receiving it.

Sir E. Boyle

The latest available figures, which are for 1954–55, show that about 156,000 students under the age of 17 were receiving part-time further education during the day. The average number of hours per student was about 146 per annum.
