HC Deb 12 February 1957 vol 564 cc171-2W
Wing Commander Bullus

asked the Postmaster-General how many applications for the telephone service were outstanding in Wembley at the latest convenient date; and what was the comparable figure twelve months earlier.

Mr. Marples

Including those already in hand, there were 239 applications outstanding in the borough of Wembley on 1st January, compared with 331 a year earlier.

Wing Commander Bullus

asked the Postmaster-General what is the longest outstanding application for the telephone service in the borough of Wembley; and when he expects to clear the present list of those waiting for the service.

Mr. Marples

The oldest application is dated July, 1953. Most of those at present waiting for service will be connected this summer. But some applicants will have to wait until new cables are laid and this work will not be completed until the end of next year.
