HC Deb 12 February 1957 vol 564 cc157-8W
62. Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will publish in HANSARD the letter his Department received from the Trades Union Congress, dated 12th December, 1956, regarding the Rent Bill, and the reply made thereto.

Mr. Brooke

No, but I should have no objection to the Trades Union Congress publishing the correspondence if they so desired.

Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many houses in the borough of Lewisham are likely to be decontrolled and have rent increases as a result of the Government's Rent Bill; and whether he will publish this information in HANSARD.

Mr. Brooke

I am not able to give separate estimates for individual local authority areas.

Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what protest against the increased rents proposed by the Government he has received from the Housewives League.

Mr. Brooke

None as yet.
