HC Deb 12 February 1957 vol 564 c161W
76. Sir W. Wakefield

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representation he has had from the Geological Society of London about the proposed afforestation of Glen Roy; and what action he is proposing to take.

Mr. Maclay

The representation from the Geological Society of London expressed opposition to afforestation in any part of Glen Roy because of its unique importance to the science of geology. This representation, with other similar representations which have been sent to me, will be taken into account when I am giving final consideration, in consultation with my noble Friend the Lord President of the Council to the limited afforestation proposal at present before me.
