135. Mr. Brockway

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will authorise supplementary rations of petrol for essential use in the furniture and other woodworking industries in view of the deleterious effects which hire-purchase restrictions and the Purchase Tax have already had on production.

Mr. Watkinson

Regional Transport Commissioners have allocated considerable supplementary rations for use in the furniture industry but if any particular manufacturer is in difficulty he should use the appeal machinery which I have provided.
