HC Deb 11 February 1957 vol 564 c147W
Major Hicks Beach

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) whether, when framing his Budget proposals, he will consider granting tax relief to persons who are invalids, on account of expenses incurred in using a specially adapted car for travelling between residence and place of employment;

(2) if, when considering his Budget proposals, he will bear in mind the financial hardship which is suffered by a married man who has to have a housekeeper to look after his invalid wife and receives no tax relief for the payments made; and if he will take steps to relieve this hardship.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

I have noted my hon. and gallant Friend's suggestions but I cannot anticipate my Budget statement.
