asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what negotiations are proceeding with the Jordanian Government to effect the ending of the British subsidy and the Anglo-Jordanian Treaty.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

Negotiations with the Jordan Government for the termination of the Anglo-Jordan Treaty of 1948 opened in Amman on 4th February.

33. Mr. John Hall

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what sums have been paid to Jordan under the Anglo-Jordan Treaty of 1948 since the Jordan Government announced their wish to end the Treaty before its expiration in 1963.

Since the Jordan Government's announcement of 27th November last, £1,400,000 has been paid to the Jordan Arab Army out of the British subsidy. In addition, outstanding bills of £162,500 have been met on their behalf.
