§ 74. Mr. Sorensenasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to what extent it is estimated the rabbit population is becoming immune to the effect of myxomatosis; what reports he has now received of areas in which rabbits have reappeared after having been apparently eliminated.
§ Mr. GodberWhile there is no evidence that the rabbit population is developing an inherent resistance to myxomatosis, I must stress that myxomatosis alone can never get rid of this pest. Rabbits are reappearing in small numbers in most areas of the country, and I would urge all concerned to intensify their drive against rabbits during the next few weeks before cover has grown again.
