Mr. Sydney Irvingasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to state the lengths of new trunk-road construction completed in 1956, as distinct from road widening or modification; and what proportion of the total programme was carried out by using nontraditional methods of construction, for example, soil stabilisation.
§ Mr. WatkinsonNine sections of new trunk road involving a total length of 5.41 miles were completed in the calendar year 1956. In two cases stabilised soil foundations were used, for a total length of 1.36 miles.
