HC Deb 04 February 1957 vol 564 c28W
Mr. Dodds

asked the Attorney-General how soon after the admission of a certified patient to a mental institution, and by what procedure, the Court of Protection is informed, with a view to the management and administration of the patient's affairs.

The Attorney-General

No procedure is prescribed. Inquiries are made as soon as the Court of Protection is notified, whether by the Board of Control or by a relative or other person, that a certified person has or may have property in need of administration and the court appoints a receiver if those inquiries show that the appointment would be in the patient's interest.
