§ 41. Mr. Iremongerasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, in view of the inflationary effect, in certain circumstances, of wage increases in the nationalised transport industry, if he will consider the desirability of introducing legislation to make it ultra vires for the British Transport Commission to make wage increases which are not matched by national productivity and to assign a specific function to the Council on Prices, Productivity, and Incomes in assisting the Commission to shape its wages policy in the national interest.
