§ Mr. T. G. D. GalbraithIt is not practical to differentiate between the Vote 10 employees mentioned in the Question, and those engaged on new works, on disposals, on dredging of harbours, on N.A.T.O. projects and so on. The total number of Vote 10 employees is about 15,000.
The numbers of Vote 8 staff are not separately calculated, but are estimated to be in the region of 4–5,000. These figures comprise the staff engaged on the maintenance, running and replacement of the electrical and mechanical installations in shore establishments, other than the Royal Dockyards themselves.
The active strength of the Navy covered by Vote "A" is at present about 114,000.
